Five Goya paintings came to the museum through the bequest of Count de Chaudordy (1826–1899), France's ambassador to Spain, including a self-portrait dated 1783. The same gift brought a sketch for the equestrian portrait of Ferdinand VII and a fantastic scene titled Caprices.
