Château d'Allègre, Medieval castle ruins in Allègre, France.

The remains of Château d'Allègre consist of two corner towers from the former keep, connected by machicolation sections and containing a round walk.

Built in the late 14th century by Morinot de Tourzel, the castle endured several sieges during the Hundred Years War before being burned down in 1698.

The castle stands as the second barony of Auvergne, featuring three fortified enclosures designed by architect Hugues Aubriot, who also designed the Bastille.

Visitors can access digital content about the castle's history through QR codes placed strategically throughout the ruins during guided tours.

The fortress contains twelve lordly houses within its walls, making it a complete medieval knight village rather than just a single noble residence.
