Château Bayard, Medieval castle in Pontcharra, France.
The castle stands on Brâme-Farine hill, featuring four round towers and three levels of mullioned windows overlooking the Grésivaudan valley.
Pierre Terrail initiated the construction of this fortified residence in 1404, which later became the birthplace of the renowned Knight Bayard.
The castle houses exhibitions about Pierre Terrail, a French military commander known as the Knight without Fear and without Reproach.
The structure underwent multiple restoration phases since 1865, starting with the efforts of local priest Jean-Baptiste Bertrand.
The castle offers views of four mountain ranges: the Jura, Vercors, Belledonne, and Chartreuse from its elevated position.
