Château Bayard

Château Bayard is a castle in Pontcharra built with four round towers and three levels of mullioned windows perched on Brâme-Farine hill. The structure offers views across the Grésivaudan valley and now houses exhibitions alongside winemaking activities.

Pierre Terrail began building this fortified residence in 1404, which later became associated with the birth of the renowned Knight Bayard. The building underwent multiple restoration campaigns starting in 1865 to preserve its structure.

The residence is closely linked to Pierre Terrail, a French military leader remembered as the Knight without Fear and without Reproach. Today visitors can see displays that explore his life and importance in French military tradition.
