Château de Faverges-de-la-Tour

Château de Faverges-de-la-Tour is a castle perched on a rocky promontory between Lyon, Grenoble, and Chambéry, with numerous windows framing Alpine views. Its architecture combines medieval structures with Italian-influenced renovations added between 1850 and 1885.

The castle was first documented in the 14th century and belonged to the Virieu family from 1230 onward. It experienced major transformations, though it lost the crown of its southeast tower during the French Revolution.

The castle contains 18th-century vaulted stables that reveal how the building once served as a working noble residence. These spaces show the daily infrastructure that supported life in such a grand home.

The grounds offer various facilities for visitors, including a heated outdoor pool, space for outdoor activities like volleyball and mountain biking, and golf practice areas. The buildings contain 63 bedrooms and 8 meeting rooms available for group stays and events.
