Boomerang, Roller coaster in Les Avenières, France
Boomerang is a steel roller coaster that stretches 285 meters and reaches a height of 35.5 meters, featuring multiple inversions along its track. The seven-car train carries 28 riders at a time and travels the course both forward and backward.
The coaster opened in the late 1980s at Walibi Rhône-Alpes, manufactured by Vekoma. In 2014, it received upgraded trains from Sunkid Heege GmbH.
The ride's name references the returning throwing tool of Australian Aboriginal peoples, chosen because the train travels forward and then backward along the same track. This naming reflects how the coaster mirrors the boomerang's path of return.
Expect an intense ride with quick turns and inversions from start to finish that keep your heart racing. Visiting during off-peak times helps avoid long queues.
The coaster doesn't just go forward but reverses completely to travel backward through the entire course, letting riders experience the inversions twice from different perspectives. This backward journey is what gives the ride its boomerang concept.
