Château de La Colle Noire

Château de La Colle Noire is a 19th-century castle in Montauroux situated on a hill at the entrance to Pays de Fayence. It features two square towers and extensive grounds that overlook the plains below.

Henri-Emmanuel Poulle built the castle between 1858 and 1861, including a chapel dedicated to Saint Anne. Christian Dior purchased it in 1950 and had it redesigned according to his vision.

The gardens tell the story of Dior's vision: roses blooming in May and jasmine from Grasse fill the space according to the designer's taste. Walking through, you can sense how these plantings express the same refinement that shaped the fashion house's collections.

The property was purchased by Parfums Christian Dior in 2013 and underwent extensive restoration before reopening in 2016. The hilltop location requires comfortable walking, so wear suitable footwear for exploring the grounds.

The estate includes a 45-meter ornamental water feature that Christian Dior designed and an asymmetrical south-facing facade reflecting 1940s Provençal style. These details reveal how the fashion designer approached architecture and landscape as art forms just as he did fashion.
