Château de Lichécourt

Château de Lichécourt is a castle in Lorraine featuring two prominent towers with thick walls built from irregular sandstone blocks throughout its four stories. The structure represents a well-preserved example of medieval construction techniques and defensive design from this period.

The castle was built in the 15th century as a fortified residence in Lorraine. It suffered significant damage during regional conflicts, particularly during the Thirty Years War, which left lasting marks on its structure.

The castle once housed glassmaking families from Bohemia who settled here and practiced their craft under special protection. This connection to the glass trade shaped the family's role and importance in the local region.

Visitors enter through rooms scaled for human comfort, each decorated in different colors, making navigation straightforward. The layout provides clear access to see how the castle's interior spaces were organized for daily living.

The castle contains a feudal dovecote in the north wing that once supplied fresh meat to residents. A chapel within the south wing served as the burial place for the castle's lords and their families.
