Château de Saint-Trys, 17th-century castle in Anse, France.

Château de Saint-Trys is a 17th-century castle in the Rhône-Alpes region of France, set on high ground with views across the surrounding countryside. The property comprises multiple buildings in classical French design, interwoven with Italian style elements such as internal courtyards and an ornate main staircase.

Construction of the castle began in the late 17th century and extended over more than a century, with sections completed in the 18th century. The building received protection as a registered historical monument in 1975.

The castle takes its name from Saint Trine, a local religious figure venerated in the region. Its architecture blends French and Italian influences, visible in the courtyards and formal interior spaces that reflect the tastes of those who built it.

The castle sits on elevated ground overlooking the surrounding landscape, including the Saône Valley and distant mountain ranges. Visitors should be aware that it serves primarily as a venue for events and special occasions rather than as a public museum.

Within the castle stands the Cuvage, a grand hall of special importance for major receptions and celebrations throughout the Lyon region. This room with its high ceilings and distinctive proportions was designed specifically to accommodate large formal gatherings.
