Château d'Aubiry

Château d'Aubiry is a residential building with Art Nouveau features in Céret, built with marble and decorated with carefully crafted design elements. It spreads across multiple levels and includes numerous rooms, outbuildings, and walled gardens with fountains and planted areas.

The building was designed between 1893 and 1904 by a Danish architect for a wealthy French industrialist. It marks a period when a new architectural style was spreading across Europe and wealthy families were shaping their homes with modern design concepts.

The name reflects a family connected to the region's history. Walking through the rooms, you notice ornate decorations everywhere and sense how the building expresses the refined way of life during the Belle-Époque period.

You can visit the outdoor areas on certain weekdays, though the interior is not open to the public. It makes sense to check opening days beforehand and allow enough time to explore the gardens and grounds at your own pace.

The greenhouse was designed by a renowned iron structure engineer, showing how new building techniques were applied to private residences. This collaboration between traditional house building and modern metal elements is rarely seen in this form.
