Château d'Aulnay, Medieval castle in Aulnay, France.

The main circular tower of the castle reaches 22 meters in height, with walls 3.6 meters thick and arrow slits distributed across multiple levels.

The castle, established in the 12th century by the viscounts of Aulnay, fell to English control during the Hundred Years War until Bertrand du Guesclin recaptured it.

Louise of Savoy, mother of King Francis I, acquired the castle in 1508 and initiated renovations that transformed the fortress into a royal residence.

The keep contains three superimposed chambers accessible through staircases built within the wall thickness, including a former prison on the ground floor.

A circular dovecote located 200 meters from the keep originally contained 2000 nesting boxes in its walls for raising pigeons.
