Château de Magnanville, 18th century château in Magnanville, France.
The château stands on a two-hundred-arpent estate overlooking the Seine Valley between Mantes-la-Jolie and Rosny-sur-Seine in northern France.
Architect François II Franque built this château between 1750 and 1753 for Charles Savalette, keeper of the Royal Treasury, at a cost of 2.4 million livres.
The château facades displayed nineteen bays adorned with Ionic columns and attics, exemplifying French classical architecture of the 18th century.
The current building, reconstructed in 1807 from a wing of the former château, now operates as a geriatric care center.
Emperor Joseph II of Austria visited the château in 1777, where he encountered the famous singer Jeliotte during his stay.
