Château de Beauregard, La Celle-Saint-Cloud, French château in La Celle-Saint-Cloud, France.
Château de Beauregard is a former castle in La Celle-Saint-Cloud situated on a hillside between two communities. Today only fragments of the central structure remain, as the site has been redeveloped with modern housing and public green spaces managed by the city.
The castle was built in the 16th century by Jeanne de Sansac and underwent significant renovations in the early 17th century by the du Val family. After its demolition in 1956, the structure vanished completely from the landscape.
The château hosted renowned composers Jean-Baptiste Lully and Jean-Philippe Rameau, who created musical works during their stays at the property.
The site is accessible through public walkways and offers good access thanks to the city's modern infrastructure. The green spaces can be explored on foot and provide a pleasant way to walk through the area.
The castle served multiple roles during World War II, including as a military storage facility, prison annex, and camp for Soviet prisoners. This turbulent period shows how historical buildings were repurposed during wartime.
