Château de la Prune-au-Pot

The Château de la Prune-au-Pot is a medieval fortress in Ceaulmont featuring defensive walls with machicolations, a central square tower, and two round towers surrounding an inner courtyard. The arrangement creates a compact and well-fortified structure.

The Pot family controlled the castle from the 14th century until 1502, during which they became one of the most powerful houses in the kingdom. Their long rule shaped the fortress into what visitors see today.

The rooms inside show French medieval craftsmanship through their large fireplaces and spiral staircases that remain visible today. Visitors can see how daily life and comfort were designed into these spaces.

Access is available through two separate entrances, one featuring a drawbridge and the other a smaller gate. Visitors should expect uneven ground and medieval pathways when exploring the entire structure.

The Fountain Tower holds water from a natural spring and displays four carved gargoyles on its facade. This blend of function and decoration reveals medieval knowledge about water systems.
