The Col du Grand Ballon is a mountain pass in the Vosges range, located in the Soultz-Haut-Rhin area of Alsace, France. The road climbs through forest before opening onto open ridgelines near the top.
The pass has served as a crossing point between the valleys on either side of the Vosges for many generations. Traders and farmers used it to move goods between communities before modern roads made the route less essential.
