Côte d'Azur Observatory, Astronomical research center on Mount Gros, Nice, France.

The Côte d'Azur Observatory is an astronomical research facility on Mount Gros near Nice with thirteen buildings connected by botanical pathways. The site is surrounded by approximately two hundred fifty olive trees that give the grounds a Mediterranean character.

A banker established the observatory in 1879 and hired a renowned architect and famous engineer to design its structures and dome. Their collaboration shaped the facility's form and enabled advanced astronomical observations from its location.

The observatory serves as a meeting place where locals and visitors alike can connect with the cosmos and understand humanity's place in it. Its location on the Côte d'Azur has made it a symbol of scientific curiosity for the region.

The facility is accessible for guided tours that allow visitors to view the telescopes and research areas. It helps to wear comfortable shoes since the site sits on a hillside and spreads across multiple levels.

The observatory houses a large telescope with a special lens system that was groundbreaking when installed in the late eighteen hundreds. This historic instrument was eventually surpassed by other telescopes but remains a technical testament to that era.
