Fort de Montessuy, Military fort in Caluire-et-Cuire, France.
Fort de Montessuy features stone walls, defensive structures, and a three-hectare park with walking paths surrounding the main fortification complex.
The fort, constructed between 1831 and 1836, formed part of Lyon's first defensive belt following the Austrian invasions of 1814 and 1815.
In 1944, a memorial was established to honor Jean Turba and Bernadette Choux, two local children who lost their lives near the fort during German withdrawal.
The municipality acquired the fort in 1972, with ground floor spaces currently housing local associations and city park services.
The fort maintains its original stone column called 'dame', designed to prevent attackers from crossing the fortification's upper sections.
