Fontaine Schwendi, Bronze fountain in central Colmar, France.

The fountain features a bronze statue of Lazare de Schwendi standing atop a stone base, holding a grapevine branch in his hands.

Created in 1898 by sculptor Auguste Bartholdi, the fountain was destroyed in 1940 during World War II and reconstructed with a smaller basin.

The statue represents Lazare de Schwendi, a 16th-century military commander who influenced the wine culture of Alsace through his Hungarian campaigns.

Located on Place de l'Ancienne Douane behind the Koifhus building, the fountain welcomes visitors from Monday to Saturday, 9:00 to 18:00.

The statue holds a grapevine branch, referring to the introduction of Tokay grape varieties to Alsace following Schwendi's military campaigns.
