Halles Raspail, Food hall in central Toulon, France
Halles Raspail is a food market in central Toulon housing approximately 25 food vendors in an Art Deco building. The structure features geometric shapes, ornamental ironwork, and imposing doors that frame its entrance.
The building was constructed in 1929 on Vincent-Raspail Square and operated continuously until 2002. After extensive renovations, it reopened in September 2021.
The hall displays a memorial plaque honoring Esther Poggio, a local fruit vendor and resistance fighter executed during World War II. Her presence reminds visitors of the area's role in the city's wartime past.
The market is accessible through Q-Park Peiresc parking on rue de Lorgues or by public transportation serving central Toulon. Visit on weekday mornings when the vendors are most active and the crowd is lighter.
A rooftop section offers views over central Toulon and serves as a relaxed spot to enjoy drinks and food. From above, visitors can watch the market activity below while feeling removed from the busier streets.
