Gorges du Fier

Gorges du Fier is a slot canyon carved by a mountain stream in the French Alps near Lovagny, where water has cut a narrow channel through limestone rock over time. A metal walkway crosses above the rushing water and anchors into the stone walls, letting people explore the deep passage from above.

The narrow passage was cut by flowing water through limestone over millions of years, creating the dramatic rock formations visible today. Public access came in the 1800s when local builders added walkways to the cliff face, opening it to visitors for the first time.
