Hôtel Guimard is a three-story residence at 122 Avenue Mozart featuring asymmetrical windows, stone walls, and decorative brick patterns across its triangular structure. The facade displays characteristic Art Nouveau elements with organic forms and fine surface details.
Architect Hector Guimard constructed this residence between 1909 and 1912 as both his personal dwelling and professional workspace alongside his wife Adeline. The building came into existence during a period when Guimard was already recognized for his Paris Metro station designs.
The dining room displays intricately crafted pear wood furniture with interlaced initials O and G, now preserved at the Petit Palais museum. This furniture shows how the family wove their personal identity and artistic taste into the home's interior.
The building incorporated an elevator instead of a main staircase to maximize interior space, with the ground floor dedicated to business operations. Visitors should note that the residence can be admired from the street as a private property not open to the public.
The structure eliminated internal load-bearing walls through innovative engineering, creating open spaces throughout each level. This solution represented advanced thinking for residential architecture at that time.
