Hôtel Mezzara

Hôtel Mezzara is a private mansion in Auteuil displaying Art Nouveau curves, natural motifs, and ornamental details throughout its exterior and interior surfaces. The facade combines flowing lines with organic ornaments, while the interior continues this style with custom-crafted elements.

Architect Hector Guimard designed this mansion in the early 1900s after studying Victor Horta's work in Brussels in 1894. That Belgian experience shaped his approach and made the building an early example of French Art Nouveau in Paris.

The mansion showcases French Art Nouveau through the integration of architecture with craftsmanship, from custom furniture to stained glass windows. This unity touches every room and shows how artisans and architects worked together during this period.

The building sits on Rue Jean de la Fontaine in the 16th arrondissement of Paris and can only be visited by prior arrangement. Visitors should check ahead and book a time since it remains a private residence with protected status.

The building retains original ironwork with flowing forms and decorative stonework, all crafted from Guimard's designs. These self-created details make it rare because one architect controlled the entire artistic vision from large to small elements.
