Hôtel de Jarnac, Private mansion in 7th arrondissement, Paris, France

Hôtel de Jarnac is a private residence in neoclassical style featuring three main floors, a vaulted basement, and multiple reception rooms with period details. The property includes a front courtyard, a walled garden with swimming pool, and separate buildings for staff and guests.

Built in 1784 by architect Étienne-François Legrand for Léonard Chapelle, the house was soon leased to Count Marie-Charles-Rosalie de Rohan-Chabot from the Jarnac family. Its name comes from this early prominent tenant.

The mansion displays refined French design through its columned courtyard and garden-facing elevation with classical details. These architectural choices shaped how the space was used by its residents over time.

Access to the courtyard and gardens is through the main entrance gate, with the grounds well-organized into distinct zones. Visitors should allow time to explore both the interior architecture and the outdoor areas.

The basement contains specialized rooms including a screening area, billiards space, recreation facility, and wine storage beneath the main residence. These additional spaces reveal how wealthy owners outfitted their homes for comfort and entertainment.
