Hôtel de Pomereu

Hôtel de Pomereu is a private mansion located on Rue de Lille, featuring an English garden, a grand courtyard, and ornate stonework across its facade. The building now houses offices for the Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations.

The mansion was built between 1872 and 1874 by architect Louis Thérèse David de Pénanrun to replace two buildings destroyed during the Paris Commune of 1871. Its construction marked the neighborhood's recovery following this turbulent period.

The interior contains several protected rooms with 18th-century woodwork, including an oval salon on the ground floor and a yellow salon with marquetry flooring. These spaces reflect the wealth and refined taste of those who once lived here.

The building is normally closed to visitors but opens to the public during European Heritage Days in September. It is worth checking ahead if you wish to see the interior spaces.

The grand staircase features a painted ceiling from the 18th century that received special protection status under French heritage laws in 1979. This artistic detail makes the staircase a hidden treasure within the mansion.
