Kiosque à musique des allées de la Liberté, Historic bandstand at Allées de la Liberté, Cannes, France
The Kiosque à musique des allées de la Liberté is a cast iron bandstand featuring a stone base topped by a conical roof supported by outward-leaning pillars. Its ornamental metal framework creates a distinctive architectural presence in the center of Cannes.
Designed by city architect Louis Hourlier, the musical pavilion opened on July 14, 1880. The structure became an important expression of urban cultural infrastructure during the Belle Époque era.
The bandstand hosts summer concerts where locals and visitors gather to enjoy outdoor music performances in the city center.
The pavilion sits between Rue Felix-Faure and Promenade de la Pantiero with views toward the Old Port. It remains open to public viewing throughout the year and is easily reached on foot from nearby streets.
The original structure operated with a temporary canvas roof because the cast iron roofing arrived late from the manufacturer. This improvised solution reflects how the city adapted when the metalwork deliveries were delayed.
