Hôpital Hérold

Hôpital Hérold was a hospital in the 19th arrondissement of Paris, located between Place Rhin-et-Danube and Boulevard Sérurier. The facility provided medical care for the northern Paris community throughout its existence.

The facility was established in 1892 following the closure of Trousseau Hospital, beginning with temporary structures originally built for cholera patients. It later evolved into a specialized medical institution serving different clinical needs.

The institution was named after Ferdinand Hérold, who served as Prefect of the Seine until 1882, marking his contributions to Paris administration.

The location between two major streets provided good accessibility for patients arriving from different directions. Proximity to public transportation options made reaching the facility convenient.

Two physicians achieved the first remission of acute leukemia at this facility in 1947, marking a major breakthrough in medical research. This achievement made the institution an important landmark in cancer research history.
