Lycée militaire in Autun

The Lycée militaire in Autun is a military school housed in a 17th-century building featuring a cloister. The complex accommodates approximately 790 students divided into two separate quarters: the Changarnier barracks area for middle school and the Gangloff quarter for high school and preparatory classes.

The building was originally constructed in 1675 as a seminary under Bishop Gabriel de Roquette. In 1885 it was transformed into a military school with cavalry preparation programs.

The school is named after its founder and serves students from military families who pursue their education from middle school through preparatory studies. Military traditions and values remain visible in the daily life of the institution.
