The military school occupies a 17th-century building with a cloister, designed by architect Daniel Guittard within the Saône-et-Loire department.
Originally built as a seminary in 1675 under Bishop Gabriel de Roquette, the structure transformed into a cavalry preparatory military school in 1885.
The institution maintains strong educational traditions while preparing students from military families through comprehensive programs from middle school to preparatory classes.
The facility accommodates 790 students across two quarters: Changarnier barracks for middle school and Gangloff quarter for high school and preparatory classes.
The establishment houses the National Museum of Military Students and features gardens that were initially designed by Le Nôtre.
