Le rocher des aigles, Bird sanctuary in Rocamadour, France.
Le rocher des aigles is a bird park in Rocamadour, in southwestern France, home to eagles, vultures, condors, falcons, and parrots. It sits on a rocky plateau above the canyon, with open enclosures and a dedicated area for flight demonstrations.
The park was founded in 1977 with a focus on protecting and breeding birds of prey that were at risk of disappearing. Over the decades it grew into one of the leading European centers for raptor breeding.
The daily flight shows are led by trained falconers who present how birds of prey hunt and move in the air. Visitors watch from open ground, with birds passing directly overhead.
The park is open from April through September, with several flight shows each day during the busiest months. Arriving early gives more time to walk around the enclosures before the shows begin.
Some of the condors born at the park have been released into the wild as part of international breeding programs. The park collaborates with conservation organizations to support these reintroductions.
