MK2 Nation, Movie theater in 12th arrondissement, France
MK2 Nation is a movie theater in the 12th arrondissement near Place de la Nation with several screening halls equipped with digital projection and modern sound systems. The space functions as a full-service cinema where you can watch films on large screens.
A concert hall called Le Palais du Trône opened here in 1912 with 400 seats. Renamed Concert Brunin in 1913, it became the Brunin Variétés cinema in 1933. In 1975 it was split into three screens as Les Trois Nation, with a fourth added in 1982 in the neighbouring building. MK2 took over in 1997, and the name MK2 Nation dates from 29 April 1998.
The cinema's name changed with its owners: opened in 1912 as Le Palais du Trône, it became Concert Brunin, then Brunin Variétés, Les Trois Nation, 14-juillet Nation, and MK2 Nation on 29 April 1998. The neighbouring Hotel Paradiso, opened in 2021 by Elisha and Nathanaël Karmitz, takes its name from Cinema Paradiso.
The theater sits near Place de la Nation and is easy to reach by metro since several stations serve the area. Visitors will find accessible entrances and facilities typical of modern cinema buildings.
Hotel Paradiso, opened in early 2021 at 135 boulevard Diderot by Elisha and Nathanaël Karmitz, is named after Cinema Paradiso and connects directly to the cinema. Its 34 rooms and two suites on seven floors can each become a private screening room, and a private box overlooks one of the MK2 Nation auditoriums.
