Le Pouzenc, Alpine summit in Baratier, France
Le Pouzenc is an Alpine peak in the Hautes-Alpes that rises within the Parpaillon Massif amid forests and mountain meadows. From the summit, views extend across the Siguret and Muretier valleys toward neighboring peaks.
Early mountaineers from the region left rock inscriptions at the summit during the 19th century, marking regular visits to this peak. These marks represent the beginning of modern mountaineering history in the area.
The territory of Mount Pouzenc remained under the control of the Order of Saint John of Jerusalem until the eighteenth century.
The hike starts from Pra Paisset parking and involves significant elevation gain through changing terrain. Start early in the day with proper footwear and gear to ensure you reach the summit with daylight remaining.
Along the way are marmot habitat areas where these animals can be spotted in their natural environment. The trail also passes near the Sources of Jerusalem, a historically notable location in this mountain landscape.
