The museum displays an extensive collection of Italian paintings from the 14th to 18th centuries in a former corn exchange building with high ceilings.
The institution opened on July 14, 1889, during celebrations marking the centenary of the French Revolution's departmental establishment.
The collection features Renaissance masterpieces from Florentine and Sienese schools, including works by Caravaggio, Titian, and Ghirlandaio.
Visitors can explore the museum's exhibitions on the upper floor, where natural light enhances the viewing experience through large windows.
The museum houses 104 paintings donated by Baron Hector Garriod between 1863 and 1878, with an additional 140 works bequeathed upon his death.
