Arènes de Metz, Indoor sports and event arena in Metz, France.
Arènes de Metz is a modern indoor sports complex covering about 17,000 square meters, designed by architect Paul Chemetov with extensive glass facades. The main hall seats 4,500 spectators and adjoins eight smaller sports facilities for various athletic and recreational programs.
The facility was built between 2000 and 2002 following a fire that destroyed the previous sports palace, with official opening in February 2002. This new construction replaced the former venue and restored the city's capacity to host major sporting events.
The arena has become a gathering place where locals and visitors come together for major handball championships, tennis competitions, and music performances that draw crowds from across the region. It serves as a focal point for community celebration and shared experiences throughout the year.
The venue is located at 5 Avenue Louis le Debonnaire and remains easily accessible by car with parking available on-site. The building is designed for accessible entry and navigation, making it comfortable for visitors attending sporting events or entertainment shows.
The complex sits in the Amphitheatre district directly across from the Lothaire swimming pool and stands just minutes from the Centre Pompidou-Metz. This proximity creates a hub of cultural and sporting activity in the city center that draws visitors to multiple venues.
