Phare de Langoz, Lighthouse in Finistère, Brittany, France

The phare de Langoz is a stone lighthouse on the Langoz beach in Finistère, Brittany, marking the entrance to the port of Loctudy and the Pont-l'Abbé river. Its light flashes four times every few seconds and also signals a rocky area nearby that poses a risk to passing vessels.

The lighthouse was built in 1863 and served sailors and fishermen for more than a century. During the Second World War, it was occupied by German soldiers in 1940 and damaged by the German navy in 1944, then repaired afterward.

The lighthouse is painted white at the base and red at the top, with the name "LANGOZ" written clearly on the upper section. These colors serve as a visual reference for sailors entering the nearby port.

The lighthouse stands on Rue du Phare in Loctudy and can be reached on foot from the town center. Walking along the nearby shore gives the clearest view of the structure from the outside.

Until 2004, a lighthouse keeper and his family lived on site before the light became fully automated. A nearby older tower called Les Perdrix, painted with black and white checks, once served as a navigation aid but is no longer in use today.
