Pic du Tourond

Pic du Tourond is a mountain peak in the Hautes-Alpes located within the Écrins range and situated where three municipalities meet. The summit offers wide views across the surrounding high mountains and can be reached by hiking routes from the valley below.

The mountain massif was shaped over millions of years by tectonic forces that stacked and lifted the rock layers into their current form. These geological processes tell the story of the Alpine uplift that transformed Europe.

The paths to this summit cross traditional grazing lands where shepherds have long moved their flocks between seasonal pastures. The area reflects the deep connection between mountain life and the rhythms of the land.

A stream originates on the mountain slopes and creates a waterfall before flowing into a larger river downstream. This water feature adds a refreshing element to the landscape that many hikers miss on their way to the summit.
