Château de Jeurre

Château de Jeurre is a castle with an extensive landscaped park in Morigny-Champigny that spans several hectares. Boxwood-bordered paths connect various architectural structures and monuments throughout the grounds, creating a network of routes to explore.

The castle was expanded in the early 1800s by a count who added elements from other historic French structures to its design. Later, significant architectural works were transferred from another famous landscaped park, enriching the estate with diverse historic pieces.

The park displays a temple dedicated to filial piety and a cenotaph honoring a famous explorer, both created by a renowned sculptor. These monuments reflect historical expeditions and significant moments that visitors encounter while walking the grounds.

The park is best visited during warmer months when the paved paths and landscaped areas are in prime condition. Wear comfortable shoes since the grounds cover significant distance and routes lead in multiple directions throughout the estate.

A spherical astronomical instrument from the 17th century stands on a pink granite column, a rare piece preserved on the grounds for centuries. This device shows how earlier owners integrated scientific and artistic interests into their garden design.
