Parc de la Pépinière, Public park in central Nancy, France
Parc de la Pépinière is a large green space in central Nancy with tree-lined paths, flower beds, animal enclosures, playgrounds, and sports facilities. The grounds span roughly 21 hectares and also include a miniature golf course, an Art Deco auditorium, and a music pavilion.
The site began in 1765 as a royal tree nursery under Stanislas Leszczyński where plants were grown and cultivated. In 1835 it became a public park while keeping its distinctive grid-based layout.
The name comes from the tree nursery that once operated here, and its wide paths still follow the orderly pattern established during its royal garden days. Today, monuments and pavilions scattered throughout remind people of the place's past and shape how they move through it.
The park opens daily at 6:30 AM with closing times between 8:00 PM in winter and 10:30 PM in summer. Wear comfortable shoes since the paths are extensive and different areas require walking to explore.
Within the park sits a small zoo covering roughly 2 hectares where peacocks, goats, donkeys, and farm animals live in enclosures. These animals are not part of a grand facility but rather scattered through the grounds as a quiet discovery for visitors.
