Pont de Grésin, Suspension bridge in Léaz and Éloise, France.
The Pont de Grésin is a steel suspension bridge that crosses the Rhone River between two municipalities, rising approximately 20 meters above the water. The structure uses steel cables anchored to twin pylons to span about 160 meters across the valley.
Before the bridge was built, people relied on a ferry service dating back to 1460 to cross the river. The construction of this suspension bridge marked a major shift, enabling a more direct and dependable crossing between the two sides.
The crossing links two communities separated by the river, allowing hikers and locals to move freely between the two sides of the valley. It has become a natural meeting point for people traveling between Léaz and Éloise.
The bridge is best accessed from the walking paths that run along both sides of the river valley. Crossing during daylight hours and calm conditions makes for the safest and most enjoyable visit to take in the surroundings.
The crossing sits in a quiet stretch of the Rhone valley where human development remains minimal and the landscape feels largely untouched. This location offers visitors a chance to experience a section of the valley that retains its natural character.
