EDF-GDF tower, Office tower in Cergy Prefecture district, France
The EDF-GDF tower is an office building in Cergy with 14 floors reaching 85.3 meters in height. The top three floors serve technical functions and have no windows.
The building was constructed in 1974 to house Électricité de France and Gaz de France operations. In 2015, Engie announced plans to sell the property.
The tower gained recognition through its appearance in the 1979 film 'I... comme Icare', where it served as a backdrop for key scenes. This cinematic presence made the building memorable in French film history.
The building incorporates a water-filled tubular frame and a water tank at the summit for fire safety. These structural features enable effective temperature control and emergency response.
The building represents the first application of Colonel Mutin's patented construction method in France. The company Durafour executed this innovative building system.
