Square de l'Opéra-Louis-Jouvet, Garden square and private road in 9th arrondissement, Paris, France.
The square de l'Opéra-Louis-Jouvet is a narrow pedestrian passage linking rue Boudreau to rue Édouard-VII in central Paris. Historic apartment buildings line both sides of this route, creating an intimate corridor with theater access.
The site was developed in 1896 by Crédit foncier on land formerly occupied by the Eden-Théâtre. The square received its current name in 1955 as a tribute to Louis Jouvet, a major French theatrical figure.
The square is named after actor Louis Jouvet and features the entrance to the Théâtre de l'Athénée at one end. A sculpture called 'Le Poète chevauchant Pégase' by Alexandre Falguière stands as a focal point along the passage.
The passage is easily accessible by metro, with Opéra station and Madeleine station both nearby and serving multiple lines. Walking through offers a quieter alternative to the busier streets surrounding the theater district.
The buildings along this passage were granted historical monument status in 2005 for their distinctive architectural features. This recognition highlights how the narrow route is valued as an important piece of Paris's urban heritage.
