Tour d'Avalon, Medieval tower in Saint-Maximin, France.

The Tour d'Avalon rises 33 meters high with walls measuring 2 meters thick on the first floor and an internal diameter of 8 meters.

The Carthusian monks constructed this tower in 1895 upon the foundations of a medieval castle's watchtower belonging to the Romestang d'Avalon noble family.

The tower preserves the memory of Saint Hugh of Avalon, who served as the Bishop of Lincoln in England from 1140 to 1200.

Visitors can access the tower on Saturdays and Sundays between July 6 and August 25, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM.

From the tower's summit, visitors observe the Grésivaudan valley while an orientation table on the esplanade provides geographical guidance.
