Villa rustica of Lassalles

The Villa Rustica of Lassalles extends over four hectares, containing 200 rooms arranged around two peristyle courtyards with gardens and pools.

Originally built in the first century AD, the villa underwent several transformations until its abandonment in the fifth century following a significant fire.

The villa displays Roman architectural sophistication through its marble decorations, geometric mosaics, and advanced hypocaust heating system throughout the living spaces.

The archaeological site, managed by the Centre des Monuments Nationaux since 2010, remains open to visitors who can explore the extensive ruins.

The villa features a semicircular porticus leading to a temple and altar, with specialized rooms designed for storing oysters and shellfish.
