Ecomusée de la région de Fourmies-Trélon

The ecomuseum in Fourmies consists of two sites dedicated to textile and glass production, documenting industrial heritage through preserved machinery and objects. Each location shows different craft techniques that were central to the local economy across generations.

The institution originated in 1863 and was reconceived in 1980 to focus on regional industrial heritage. This transformation made it a place where economic development and craft traditions are documented for public understanding.

The textile section displays reconstructed 19th-century streets where working looms show how weavers operated their equipment. Visitors watch these demonstrations and understand the skill required for daily labor in that era.

The museum is housed at two separate locations, so visitors should plan to see both sites depending on their interests. It makes sense to check opening hours in advance and allow time to explore both sites to fully understand the different craft traditions.

At the glass workshop location in Trélon, visitors can watch craftspeople blowing glass and creating pieces using traditional methods. This living craft practice allows visitors to experience how this ancient art form is still practiced today.
