St. Georges Church, Nancy

St. Georges Church is a Catholic place of worship built in neoclassical style in Nancy, combining symmetrical forms with grand columns. The building follows classical proportions throughout, with carefully balanced architectural elements and refined exterior details.

Construction of this church began in 1846 under architect Corrard des Essarts and reached completion in 1851. It was built during a period when Nancy was developing as an important urban center with growing religious needs.

The stained glass windows display scenes of Saint George, the Virgin Mary, and Saint Catherine in vibrant colors. Created by the Benoît workshops after World War II, they shape how light fills the interior space.

The interior contains an organ from 1861 attributed to renowned builder Cavaillé-Coll that remains in working condition. There is also a striking statue by Nicolas Lépy depicting Saint George vanquishing the dragon, showcasing craftsmanship from that era.
