Saint-Gilles church of L'Île-Bouchard

The Saint-Gilles church features a west facade with circular arched doors decorated with roses and pine cones, alongside three bells in its tower.

Construction of the church began in 1067, with significant modifications in the 15th century when Charles VII funded the rebuilding of the Gothic choir.

The church holds three bells, with the oldest one from 1741 receiving recognition as a classified historical monument of France.

Located at 60 Rue de la Liberté, the church underwent extensive restoration work focusing on the central nave, framework, and north side aisle.

Joan of Arc stopped at this church in March 1429 to attend mass before her meeting with King Charles VII in Chinon.
