Église Saint-Godard de Rouen

Église Saint-Godard de Rouen is a Gothic church built with a Latin cross plan, featuring two towers on its front wall and extending across ten bays. An ambulatory runs around the choir to complete the layout.

A fire destroyed the building in 1248, leading to its reconstruction during the 15th and 16th centuries. It became the parish church for residents living near Rouen Castle.

The church displays stained glass windows created between the 16th and 19th centuries, with the Tree of Jesse by Arnould de Nimegue among the most notable. These artworks tell biblical stories and shape the light inside the building throughout the day.

The church is located at Place Saint-Godard in central Rouen and welcomes visitors daily. You can attend regular religious services or visit quietly to explore the interior at your own pace.

The building houses two organs built by master craftsman Aristide Cavaillé-Coll, with the main instrument installed in 1884. This rare pair produces exceptional sound quality and delights visitors who appreciate organ music.
