Église Saint-Géry, Valenciennes, Catholic church in Valenciennes, France
The Saint-Géry Church features twelve blue stone pillars in its nave, representing the twelve apostles of Christian tradition.
Built in the first half of the 13th century at the request of Franciscan monks, this church became the burial site for the elder branch of Hainaut counts.
The church houses numerous religious artworks, including statues of the Virgin and Child, Saint Gerard, Saint Nicolas, and multiple paintings depicting biblical scenes.
Located at 8 Rue Saint-Jean in Valenciennes, the church opens daily from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM in winter and until 6:00 PM during summer months.
In 2021, a reliquary containing the bones of the Ursuline martyrs of Valenciennes was transferred to a chapel within the church.
