ZooParc de Beauval, Animal park in Saint-Aignan-sur-Cher, France.
ZooParc de Beauval is a zoological garden in Saint-Aignan-sur-Cher in the French Loire Valley with more than 10,000 animals from every continent. The enclosures spread across themed areas that recreate natural habitats and are connected by wide walking paths.
The site opened in 1980 as a small bird collection with few species and grew through gradual expansions into one of the largest animal parks in France. The facility reached the mark of two million visitors per year in 2022.
The name Beauval comes from the French words for beautiful valley and reflects the park's setting among rolling green hills. Visitors walk through themed areas representing African savannas and Asian rainforests where each zone recreates a different climate and landscape.
Eight free parking areas around the site offer space for motorhomes and bicycles as well as accessible spots. The different zones spread across the entire grounds and require a full day for a complete walk-through.
A system of elevated walkways runs through the South American area and allows views of birds from roughly 30 feet (10 meters) above ground. Visitors walk among the treetops and experience the animals from a perspective only climbers would otherwise have.
