Château de l'Estang

Château de l'Estang is a castle featuring a 15th-century circular keep equipped with defensive openings, extended by two perpendicular wings built during the 1700s. The structure sits where two streams converge and is surrounded by a substantial water feature that once served defensive purposes.

The castle came under the ownership of Jeanne d'Argy in 1470 and faced attacks during the Hundred Years War. Later raids by League forces in 1590 marked another period of conflict in the region's turbulent history.

The main wing displays carved stonework bearing the Noroy family coat of arms and architectural details from different eras. These decorative elements show how various owners left their mark on the residence over time.

The property sits roughly 2 kilometers southeast of Orbigny's center and is best reached on foot from the village. Keep in mind this is a private residence and access is limited to special occasions and public events.

The residence hosts the Estivals de Touraine festival, where performers take the stage in its courtyard during summer months. These regular cultural events bring contemporary artistic life to the historic location and draw audiences from across the region.
