Église Saint-Nicaise de Reims, Protected church building in Reims, France.

Église Saint-Nicaise is a church with a Greek cross layout that combines Roman architectural elements with Art Deco decoration. The building's structure creates spaces where geometric forms and ornamental details work together in a balanced design.

The church was built between 1920 and 1924 under architect Jacques Marcel Auburtin and replaced an ancient abbey that was demolished during the French Revolution. Its construction marked a return to religious life in Reims after that destruction.

The stained glass by René Lalique and the Stations of the Cross by Jean Berque shape how visitors experience the interior. These artworks show how major artists of the 1920s contributed to sacred spaces.

You can enter the church at 2 place du 11 Novembre in Reims and explore the building at your own pace. Individual guided tours are available by arrangement and offer deeper insights into the history and artwork.

The interior furniture was designed by Auburtin himself and blends modern and rustic forms in an unusual way. These pieces represent an experimental approach to furnishing a sacred space during the 1920s.
