Automobile Museum Reims-Champagne, Motor vehicle museum in Reims, France
The Automobile Museum Reims-Champagne displays around 160 cars and 90 motorcycles spread across multiple exhibition halls representing different eras of automotive design and engineering. The collection spans from the early 1900s onward and is organized into themed sections that guide visitors through the evolution of motor vehicles.
Founded in 1985 by Philippe Charbonneaux, this museum ranks among the five largest vehicle collections in France. The focus on models from 1908 onward means the collection spans over a century of automotive development.
The collection features French makers like Amilcar, Berliet, and Chenard-Walcker alongside international brands that shaped how people traveled across generations. Walking through the halls, you see how different countries and manufacturers contributed to the story of motor vehicles.
The museum is located on Avenue Georges Clemenceau and opens daily except Tuesdays, with seasonal hours running from 10:00 in the morning until around 17:00 or 18:00 in the afternoon. Plan your visit accordingly depending on the time of year you travel.
Beyond the main vehicles, the museum holds around 7000 miniature cars, 80 pedal cars, and 170 enamel signs in its broader collections. These smaller objects offer unexpected insights into automotive culture and the way people related to cars beyond just driving them.
