Église Saint-Jean-Baptiste d'Onesse-et-Laharie, Gothic parish church in Onesse-Laharie, France
Église Saint-Jean-Baptiste is a Gothic parish church with a central nave and two side aisles spanning four bays that lead to a semi-circular apse. A sacristy sits on the south side, while the northern aisle was added during a later period.
Construction began in the late 15th century with the central nave, southern aisle, and parts of the bell tower. The northern aisle arrived much later during the 19th century, showing how the building evolved over centuries.
The stained glass windows inside depict various saints and shape how light flows through the church. They were added over time and reflect the veneration of both local and universal holy figures.
The church is located at Place des Platanes and is managed by the Saint-Joseph-du-Brassenx parish. Since regular services are held here, visiting hours may vary depending on religious schedules.
The bell tower holds historic bells cast by Guillaume père et fils and Escoubet Jean-Bertrand. These bells represent a craft tradition that shaped the sound character of the place over time.
